What's Up

Thanks to a remarkably generous and inspired grant from the Leo S. Guthman Foundation in Chicago, Illinois, Open Books Radio lives on the Web. Please visit

www.openbooksradio.org

Hour-long conversations with such stellar writers as Chris Abani, Patricia Hampl, Joe Meno, A. M. Homes, Sy Montgomery, and Bill McKibben are streaming and downloadable.

As for events:

I'll be speaking onstage with Stuart Dybek at the Chicago History Museum on October 10.

On October 22, I'll be talking about books and the role of book reviewers and critics at the Nineteenth Century Club, in Oak Park, Illinois.

On October 27, I will be moderating the Chicago International Writers' Exchange roundtable at the Guild Complex.

This year's Chicago Humanities Festival is astonishing. I have the great honor of moderating a dream panel on November 3, 2007, with Diane Ackerman, Gretel Ehrlich, W. S. Merwin, and Terry Tempest Williams.
